How to switch from DeductIt to DeductiBee

The good news is that raw CSV and PDF export appear on their pricing page without a paid tier attached, so getting your records out generally does not cost anything. The two things to watch are that export is scoped to one tax year at a time, and that the Delete tab sits one tap from the Export tab on the same screen.

DeductIt today
Live at the time of writing. A website at deductit.io plus an iOS app and a Chrome extension for TurboTax Online, from Foothill AI LLC, free to use with paid Supporter and Pro tiers.
Can you get a file out
YesCSV, PDF, TXF (paid tier)
Their pricing page lists raw CSV and PDF export, with the TurboTax TXF file appearing under a paid tier. Confirm the tier in the app before relying on it.
Before you start

What trips people up moving off DeductIt

  • Export is per tax year, so a multi-year history comes out as several separate files.
  • The Delete tab and the Export tab are on the same screen, one tap apart, and their own warning is that deleting donations cannot be undone.
  • Their pricing page puts TurboTax Desktop import (TXF) under a paid tier, so the tax-software file is gated even where the raw data is not.
  • DeductIt's own blog is unusually candid about what TXF drops, and it is worth reading in their words rather than ours: they write that there is no field in the specification for what you donated, that stock donations are silently dropped by TurboTax on import with no error message, and that TurboTax auto-assigns household items and clothing to all non-cash imports. Those are their claims about Intuit's software, not ours.
  • Their support page states that TXF import covers cash and item donations only, and that stock donations and mileage must be entered manually.
Step one

Get your records out of DeductIt

Records live on their servers rather than only on the device, so you need to be signed in to the account that holds them. Account deletion is not self-serve: their support page directs you to email support, and their privacy policy says personal data is deleted within 30 days with some data retained for legal or security purposes. Export every year you care about before requesting deletion.

  1. 1Sign in to the account holding your dataTheir support page describes Google Sign-In, and their App Store listing mentions Sign in with Apple. Use whichever you originally signed up with. Because records are stored server-side, signing in is not optional.
  2. 2Open the Import/Export screenTheir support page places the Import/Export control in the top right of the app. The same screen handles import, export and delete.
  3. 3Choose the Export tab, carefullyThe screen is tabbed, and the Delete tab is the neighbor. Their own warning is that deleting donations cannot be undone and that you should export a backup first. Take that literally.
  4. 4Pick the tax yearExport is scoped to one year at a time, so you choose the year before the format. No all-years option is documented at the time of writing.
  5. 5Choose CSV, and take the PDF as a second copyCSV is the file another tracker can read. The PDF is a human-readable record, which their site describes as including documentation for your tax records. Taking both costs nothing.
  6. 6Repeat for every year you trackedFour years of giving means four CSV files. Do this before deleting anything.
  7. 7Save receipt photos by handPhoto attachments are a paid feature stored on their servers, and their pages do not say photos are included in the CSV or PDF export. Open each donation that has one and save the image out. This is a fallback rather than a documented feature, which is exactly why it is worth doing.
Step two

Bring the file into DeductiBee

DeductiBee works out what the file is rather than asking you, so these three steps are the same whatever you exported from.

  1. 8Open Import in DeductiBee and pick your fileImport lives in onboarding and in Settings afterwards, so it is there whether you are new or have been using the app for a year. Choose the file from Files, iCloud Drive, or whatever app it landed in.
  2. 9Check the preview before anything is savedDeductiBee reads the file, works out which columns are which, and shows you what it found: how many donations, which tax years, and how each condition tier maps onto Like new, Good, and Fair. Nothing is written to your records until you accept that preview.
  3. 10Confirm the organizations it rebuiltMost exports list a charity name on every row rather than a separate list of organizations, so DeductiBee reconstructs the list from those rows and shows it to you to confirm or merge. Re-importing the same file later does not duplicate anything.

Importing your own history is free on every tier, permanently, and so is exporting your raw data again later. Neither is behind the paywall, on principle: your records are yours.

The honest part

What comes with you, and what does not

No migration is lossless. Knowing which half is which before you start is the difference between a move and a surprise.

Comes with you

  • Charity name and location
  • Donation date and donation type: cash, item, stock or mileage
  • Item descriptions, quantities and conditions
  • Fair market value amounts
  • Stock fields the app collects: ticker, share count, value on the donation date, cost basis and acquisition date
  • Volunteer mileage with miles and additional costs

Does not come with you

  • Which valuation method or source produced a suggested value
  • Household sharing membership, meaning who in a shared account entered what
  • Item descriptions and charity addresses, if you take only the TXF file
FAQ

Questions about leaving DeductIt

Do I have to pay to get my data out of DeductIt?
Their pricing page lists raw CSV and PDF export without a paid tier attached, and puts the TurboTax TXF file under a paid one. That is a good sign, and it is also the load-bearing fact on this page, so confirm it in the app rather than taking our reading of their pricing table.
Will my photos come with me?
Their pages do not say, in either direction. Photo attachments are a paid feature stored on their servers, and nothing we found describes whether an export includes them. Save them out donation by donation before you close the account, because the cost of doing that unnecessarily is an hour and the cost of skipping it could be everything.
Can I export all years at once?
Not that we could find. Export is scoped to a single tax year, so a multi-year history means one pass per year. DeductiBee will take all of those files, and re-importing one twice does not duplicate anything.
Is it safe to use the Delete tab to clear a year after exporting?
Their own warning is that deleting donations cannot be undone and that you should export a backup first. Verify your CSV opens and the row count matches before you delete anything, and remember that deleting on their side does not affect what you have already imported into DeductiBee.
Method

Where these steps came from

The steps above were read off DeductIt's own public pages on August 9, 2026, and those pages are linked below so you can check the work. Menus and wording in other companies' products change without notice. If something here no longer matches what you see, we would rather hear about it than leave it wrong.

What we could not confirm

  • The list above describes what the app records, not the export's columns. They publish a CSV template for import and say only charity, date, type and value are required, but the export schema is not published and may not match that template.
  • Whether receipt photos are included in or referenced by the CSV or PDF export. Nothing on their pages answers this either way, which is why the last step above treats saving them by hand as a precaution rather than a certainty.
  • Whether the documented click path is identical in the iOS app and the web app.
  • What their paid-tier Google Drive backup actually writes: a full data archive, or report files. No file description is published.
Bring it all with you

Your donation history should outlive the app you kept it in.

Import what you already have, value what you gave next with a source attached, and export the paperwork when you file.

Nothing to lose in the move

Import is free, re-importing the same file does not duplicate anything, and you can export your raw data again whenever you want.

Records that stay yours

Everything lives on your iPhone, syncing only through your own private iCloud database.
