What Pro adds, and what never costs anything

The paywall is on new capacity and on outputs. It is not on the valuation guide, not on importing, not on reading your own history, and not on getting your data back out.

DeductiBee Pro against the free tier. Import, viewing, and raw data export are free on both, permanently.

The honest answer

Why $19.99 a year

The valuation dataset is the product, and a dataset is not a thing you build once. Values move, categories change, and a guide that quietly ages is worse than no guide at all, because it produces a number you would then have to defend. DeductiBee ships a new versioned edition each year, with every range carrying the source it was derived from and the methodology in IRS Publication 561 behind it. The subscription is what pays for that work.

The rules around the numbers move too. The Form 8283 filing threshold, the appraisal line above it, the receipt rules underneath both, the statutory charitable mileage rate, and, for tax year 2026, a deduction for people who do not itemize whose details are still being settled in guidance. A record-keeping tool that stops tracking those becomes a liability at exactly the moment you need it.

There is no second revenue line. No advertising, no analytics, no data to sell, and no third-party SDK in the app or on this site. Subscriptions are the whole business model, which is the arrangement that keeps our incentives pointed at the person paying rather than at someone buying access to them.

On what it is worth: the comparison that matters is not other apps, it is the deduction. If you itemize, documenting a few thousand dollars of donated goods generally produces a deduction of a few thousand dollars. What that is worth in tax depends on your bracket and on whether your itemized total beats your standard deduction at all, which is a calculation this page is not going to do for you. If you take the standard deduction, a bag of clothing generally changes your federal bill by nothing, and the non-itemizer guide explains the narrow 2026 exception, which is cash-only. What a subscription buys is not the number, it is being able to show where the number came from.

And if a subscription is simply not how you want to buy software, take the $59.99 lifetime option. It is listed beside the others on purpose. Whichever you choose, the promise underneath is the same one on the privacy page: the records are yours, they are on your device, and the export is free forever.

FAQ

Pricing questions

What do I get without paying anything?
Everything except the outputs. You can log unlimited drop-offs, cash gifts, mileage, and volunteer costs, enter 20 new item rows a tax year, browse the whole valuation guide with its sources, attach a photo to each item and as many as you like to a receipt, import your entire donation history, and export your raw data in full. The free tier is not a trial and it does not expire.
Why a subscription rather than one price?
Because the valuation data has to be rebuilt every year to stay usable, and so does the rule set around it. A one-time payment funds the version you bought and nothing after it. If a subscription is not for you, the lifetime option is $59.99 once, which is roughly three years of the annual plan and then nothing, and it is listed next to the others rather than hidden.
What happens to my records if I stop paying?
They stay, and you can keep reading them. Your donations, values, and photos are on your device either way. What you lose is new item capacity beyond the free allowance, the formatted exports, and iCloud sync. Raw data export stays free, so a complete copy of everything is always one tap away, subscribed or not. That is deliberate: a tool for people whose last one was switched off cannot hold their history hostage.
Is there a free trial?
The annual plan generally comes with a 7-day free trial. Eligibility is Apple's to decide, not ours, and it depends on your Apple Account's history with the app, so the App Store confirms what you will be charged and when before you subscribe.
How do I cancel?
In Settings on your iPhone, under your Apple Account, then Subscriptions. Cancelling takes effect at the end of the period you already paid for. We cannot cancel it for you, because Apple, not us, holds the subscription.
Can I get a refund?
Apple handles refunds for everything sold through the App Store, including DeductiBee. Request one through Apple's Report a Problem process with your Apple Account. We have no way to issue one directly.
Do I need Pro to import my old donation history?
No, and you never will. Importing an ItsDeductible export or a generic CSV is free on every tier, as is viewing and exporting the years you bring in. See what carries over.
Is Pro shared through Family Sharing?
Not currently. DeductiBee Pro is tied to the Apple Account that bought it. If Family Sharing support is added, it will be announced rather than quietly assumed here.
Is DeductiBee worth it if I only donate a couple of times a year?
That depends on what you give away, and on whether you itemize at all. The arithmetic is worth doing rather than guessing, and the calculator on this site will do it for you for free. Forty garments at a realistic $6 each is about $240. From the guide's Good tier, a standard sofa is $95 to $155, a kitchen or dinette set is $70 to $105, and a working flat-panel television is $145 to $230, so one furnished-room clean-out is roughly $310 to $490 on top. A deduction is generally only worth claiming if you can substantiate it. If your donations are small, or you take the standard deduction, the free tier may be all you ever need, which is why it is a real tier rather than a countdown. IRS Publication 526 covers which contributions are deductible.

More on what DeductiBee does on the overview, what the free tier is actually pricing in the donation value guide, how it stacks up against the alternatives on the comparison pages, who builds it on the about page, and the legal terms of the subscription in the terms.
